OFFICER ANN O’DONNELL MEMORIAL RECREATION CENTER
“She served with honor and distinction and will always be remembered with gratitude and respect.”
-- George H. W. Bush
41st President of the United States of America
Ann Nonette O’Donnell, 1986-2010, was a Texas Peace Officer with the Department of Public Safety at the University of Houston. She grew up in Galveston, and moved to Indian Beach in 2003.
Dispatched to a kidnapping-in-progress call on Christmas Eve, 2010, Ann was on the way to intercept the escaping kidnapper when her patrol unit veered off of the street and hit a tree. She lost her life minutes later, trying to help someone she'd never met.
Ann, 24, loved being a police officer, and calling this beautiful community her home.
Like all heroes, she will live forever.
